FAQs

What is gold filled?

14k gold filled  or 14k rose gold filled is a layer of gold that has been bonded to a metal core, in our case brass, by heat and pressure. Because it is bonded, it does not rub off like gold plated jewelry does. By law gold filled jewelry has to have a minimum 1/20 gold by weight. Gold plated jewelry has much less, usually a microscopic film of gold, thus making it much less valuable and durable than gold filled. Gold filled is tarnish resistant. Gold filled is not solid gold however and still needs to be cared for properly to maintain that lovely gold layer.

Does your jewelry contain nickel?

Our jewelry does not nickel. It is all manufactured in North America. Our silver and solid gold all come from recycled or reclaimed sources.

Is your jewelry hypoallergenic?

Our jewelry does not contain any nickel which is the most common allergy to jewelry. However people can be allergic to different metals so we always use the word hypoallergenic cautiously. Please always consult with your doctor if you have metal allergies to help determine which jewelry is best for you. Our gold filled jewelry contains zinc. Please feel free to message us with any questions.

We have lovely reusable linen gift bags and ring boxes if you would like a gift wrapping option. The free shipping  option in Canada might not apply to gift wrapped items due to the added shipping weight. Gift wrapped items may need to be upgraded to tracked shipping. Please contact us for more details before placing your order.

 Will my jewelry tarnish?

The short answer is yes. Most all metals tarnish or become dirty eventually. Our Argentium silver, gold filled, and solid gold jewelry take longer to tarnish than our sterling silver jewelry. How you wear and store your jewelry greatly affects the time jewelry takes to tarnish. Some of our designs, such as our bar studs and micro dot studs have a small amount of exposed brass at the ends, from where the metal was cut. The brass often shows tarnish faster than the gold filled  metal does. This tarnish can be cleaned away very easily with our soft non-abrasive blue polishing cloths that are sent with most orders (Please do not use polishing cloths over gemstones, as they can become discoloured by the polishing compound in the cloth). Please do not use silver dips or other chemicals on our gold filled jewelry as this can damage the finish of the gold layer.

Do you offer permanent jewelry?

No we do not. We believe your jewelry needs to be removable. Due to safely and to maintain the quality of your jewelry it should be taken off when sleeping, working out, doing physical activities, swimming, or doing house work involving chemicals.

Do you make jewelry for children?

No. Our jewelry is designed for adults. If you are purchasing for a child you assume all risk and lability.
